مؤشر Schaff Trend Cycle (STC) تم تطويره من قبل Doug Schaff فى عام 2008. يعتمد المؤشر على افتراض أن حركة السعر تتسارع وتبطئ بشكل دورى.
1. Moving averages (23- and 50-period EMA) and the MACD values are calculated.
EMA1 = EMA(Close, ShortLength);
EMA2 = EMA(Clost, LongLength);
MACD = EMA1 – EMA2;
2. 10-period Stochastic from the MACD values are calculated (cycles of the Schaff Trend Cycle).

مؤشر STC هو متذبذب من الناحية الفنية. يعتمد المؤشر على مبادئ الاستوكاستيك والماكد. مؤشر STC يكشف عن الاتجاهات الصاعدة والهابطة، مع تجاهل العديد من التذبذبات قصيرة المدى.
وفقاً لمبدأ مؤشر STC، بعد وقت معين فى سوق الفوركس، يعود الاتجاه لنقطة البداية وتبدأ دورة حركة السعر فى التكرار. وبالتالى، نجد بعد التقلبات التكرارية والدورية فى حركة السعر والتى يتم الكشف عنها من قبل مؤشر STC.
خلال عملية تطور المؤشر، إلى جانب عملية الحركة الدورية، يتم استخدام طريقتين لتحديد الاتجاه: متذبذب الاستوكاستك والماكد.
يعمل مؤشر STC بالطريقة التالية. يعطى المؤشر إشارة شراء عند يصل خط الإشارة لمستوى 25 وإشارة بيع عند الهبوط من مستوى 75.
مطور هذا المؤشر يقترح استخدام الطريقة التالية لفلترة إشارات المؤشر. إذا أغلقت الشمعة التالية لشمعة إشارة الشراء أعلى من قمة الشمعة السابقة فذلك يعنى احتمالية كبيرة لحركة السعر لأعلى. على النقيض، إذا أغلقت الشمعة التالية لشمعة إشارة البيع أسفل قاع الشمعة السابقة فذلك إشارة للبيع.
